Wedding Toasts

One of our favorite parts of what we do here at BKB is actually getting to know the couple during their engagement. It’s no secret that we have remained friends with so many of our lovely couples!  That’s why we love those few moments at wedding receptions in which those closest to you say a few words and give a proper toast before dinner.  We love to hear how your friends and family love you as a couple.

If you are unsure of who to ask to give your wedding toast, couples traditionally have asked the groom’s best man. Oftentimes, a bride may want to ask her matron or maid of honor as well. In fact, any member of the wedding party, parents of the couple, those hosting the wedding, or a close relative are all acceptable and welcomed.

When you decide who to ask, simply keep a few things in mind:

1. Tell the individual why you would like him or her to be the one to give the toast. Do you have a close relationship? Are they a great public speaker?  Do they know you as a couple the best?

2. Ask them to keep the toast under a couple of minutes. Toasts are not intended to be speeches. Keeping things short and sweet will be much appreciated by your wedding guests, especially if you have more than one person speaking.

It’s always nice to have a little laugh during the toast, but at not at the expense of the couple. Ask them to refrain from sharing any embarrassing stories!

Cheers!
