Best Engagement spots north of Boston
Boston’s North Shore has plenty of picturesque spots for engagement photos. Whether you’re looking for beachy portraits at sunset or a quaint, historic New England vibe, we’ve got some ideas. We’ve shared our favorite spots north of Boston below!
Appleton Farms, Ipswich
This historic farm is aglow with breathtaking foliage in the fall. Wander around fields of crops and cows in the oldest continuously working farm in the United States. Pastoral landscapes are everywhere you turn.
Brooksby Farm, Peabody
This working farm in Peabody is a great place for a wedding...and engagement photos! We love the rustic charm, acres of orchards, and the big red barn. This is a great spot in the fall during apple picking season.
Crane Beach, Ipswich
This beach is located on the Crane Estate in Ipswich. This beach is spectacular with miles of shoreline. Follow the trails and boardwalks through a landscape peppered with salt marsh and sand dunes.
Take a tour of historic downtown Salem with your photographer to capture traditional New England architecture. Meander through the Peabody Essex Museum for a different view.
East Boston Waterfront
One of our very favorite spots is Fan Pier. It offers one of the very best backdrops of Boston Harbor anywhere inside or outside of the city. It’s a must if you’re looking for iconic Boston engagement photos.
David S. Lynch Memorial Park, Beverly
Lynch Park, as it’s commonly known, is bursting with flowers during the warm months. This area offers a botanical photo background as well as a seaside option.
We’re talking about the town...not the recent movie! This town on Cape Ann is known for its beautiful scenic beaches. Our favorite is Singing Beach. Not only does the sand squeak when walked upon, it turns iridescent when the sun sets.
Marblehead Light House
The skeletal structure of this lighthouse is the only one of its kind in New England. This historic lighthouse paired with the rocky coast makes for a memorable backdrop for your engagement photos.
Nahant Beach Reservation
Looking for a vast stretch of sandy coastline for your engagement shoot? Consider this protected coastal reservation. It’s particularly picturesque at sunset.
This is a small, coastal, historic New England town that you should visit even if you’re not having your engagement photos taken! We love the historic seaport district for photo opportunities.
Old Town Marblehead
This colonial neighborhood is packed with colorful homes lining narrow streets. It’s very busy in the summer, so spring or fall engagement sessions work best in this quintessential New England town.
If you’re looking for a quaint New England coastal backdrop outside of Boston, we recommend heading to Salem. Walk along the docks and pose in front of historic tall ships for interesting photo opportunities.
Salem Willows Arcade and Park
Views of Salem Harbor abound at this historic park and arcade. Walk around the giant willow trees or take a spin on the carousel. It’s a fun place to play and explore in Salem, Massachusetts.
The Crane Estate, Ipswich
This gilded venue is a gorgeous backdrop for your wedding or engagement photos. The hilltop mansion called The Great House is awe inspiring, as is the spectacular scenery. The entire estate is a 165-acre National Historic Landmark.
